New agreement between WGU and Indiana’s Ivy Tech Community College provides credit transferability, reduced tuition, and application fee waiver
Salt Lake City — Completing a bachelor’s degree just became more affordable for graduates of Indiana’s Ivy Tech Community College, thanks to a new agreement with Western Governors University, www.wgu.edu. Under the terms of the agreement, Ivy Tech graduates who have completed their associate degrees are eligible for an application fee waiver, a 5 percent discount on WGU’s already-affordable tuition, and a generous transfer policy. In addition, the online, competency-based university is earmarking ten scholarships valued at up to $2,000 each for qualified Ivy Tech grads.
If you want to learn and build your skills in managing people, communications and content through the Joomla web content management system (CMS), myMCNA.com offers a great opportunity. We need a volunteer editor to be trained to manage and build this site for the Michiana Career Network Association.
Joomla powers literally millions of web sites worldwide, including sites like MTV, Citibank, and Harvard University. Modern CMS skills are quickly displacing simpler systems and demand for basic webdesign / FrontPage skills is diminishing rapidly. Here's a chance to up your game and help others at the same time.
Contact the leader at your MCNA member organization for more information.
Thanks to all who participated as volunteers at the MCNA Employment Resource Expo ! If you were not able to attend, please check back over the coming days for recordings here on the site. And - don't forget to encourage others to attend the MCNA meeting near you.
Chet Kaminski, a parishioner at St. Pius X in Granger, is glad his church noticed a need.
Under the direction of Norm Robertson, who owns a staffing agency, St. Pius already was holding seminars aimed at helping unemployed members.
But the idea to do more came up in a staff meeting, said Betsy Quinn, director of stewardship and evangelization, and the Rev. Bill Schooler opted to expand the effort.
The end result is the Employment Resource Ministry, which holds meetings every Wednesday night at 7 in the Parish Education Center in Room 213. It is run by Robertson.
For people like Kaminski, who was laid off from his job as a plant manager at National Standard in November, it has truly been a godsend.
